Understanding physiotherapy...
And the role of a Registered Physiotherapist in your Personal Health and Fitness Plan A Physiotherapist is a health care professional who performs specialized assessments and treatments on patients with restricted mobility and who are unable to take part in day to day tasks due to health issues or medical problems. Through physiotherapy a patient is prescribed exercises, and therapy programs to aid in recovery, treatment and to help develop a healthier lifestyle. Working with a registered physiotherapist will help patients move directly affected or indirectly affected body parts that have lost functionality. This type of therapy can also prevent the onset of certain types of disease and injury. Physiotherapy is used alongside other treatments as an important rehabilitation method for illnesses that restrict movement and mobility and the service can be provided in a number of locations including but not limited to hospitals, clinics and sports facilities.
Physiotherapy focuses on pain relief, treating an injury or condition and preventing it from worsening. The second stage of treatment is helping the patient build strength, increase range of motion and regaining the ability to perform everyday tasks that had become difficult. Since the long-term goal of physiotherapy is to help a patient obtain optimal health and well-being it is important to seek therapy shortly after an injury in order to speed up recovery time and get the body back to proper functional performance.
